MONTCLAIR--Montclair State placekicker Marco Capozzoli was signed by the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football League on June 10. Capozzoli, the NJAC Special Teams Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Region selection by D3Football.com, began his professional career by connecting on all nine of his extra points in a 69-51 victory over the Dallas Vigilantes on June 11.

UNION--The Kean football team continues its efforts to give back to the local communities, as they volunteered as part of the Clean Ocean Action’s Beach Sweeps in Monmouth County on April 24. It was the third straight year the Cougars participated in the clean-up efforts, as 16 players and three members of the coaching staff helped remove debris from Baywalk at Beachway and Laurel Avenues in Keansburg.

WAYNE--William Paterson wide receiver Joel Rivera will try out for the NFL’s New York Jets when the team conducts its Rookie Minicamp starting on April 30. Rivera, who completed his college career as a Pioneer this past fall, was named to the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team for the second straight year after starting all 10 games during the 2009 season and catching 51 passes for 751 yards and nine touchdowns.

UNION--The Kean football team officially welcomed Tommy Frankel to the program, as the Cougars adopted the 12-year old Tommy through the “Friends of Jaclyn” Organization on March 25. Joined by his parents, Andrea and Steve, and younger sister, Nicole, Tommy was welcomed by Kean University President Dr. Dawood Farahi and Head Coach Dan Garrett during an adoption ceremony at Kean Hall. Tommy was diagnosed with germinoma, a rare brain tumor, on September 2, 2008

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN – Rowan offensive tackle Ken Siano was selected to compete in the 14th annual All-American Bowl College All-Star Game. The game will be played on March 27 at the University of Charleston’s Laidley Field in Charleston, WV.

ELIZABETH---In the first of several community service projects for the spring semester, the Kean football team volunteered at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey on February 19. The 16 student-athletes and three coaches spent several hours at the Community FoodBank distribution center sorting and packing boxes of food and household goods.
